TRAVEL GRANTS AND AWARDS

All travel grant applications and related materials must be sent to Linda Garcia (LPI) at MtgAwards@hou.us no later than April 25, 2019. If you want to apply for a travel grant, please download the special travel grant application form using the "DOWNLOAD PDF" button below.

A limited number of travel awards will be available to undergraduate and graduate students and post-doctoral members of The Meteoritical Society. The purpose of the grants is to encourage those with limited sources of funding to submit abstracts and enable participation at the meeting.
Grant applicants will be notified of the Travel Award Committee's decision after the program is finalized (May 31, 2019). Please read the description and instructions for each award application CAREFULLY before submitting.

  • The Barringer Crater Company Travel Award for graduate and undergraduate students (Open to all nationalities). Applicants must be members of The Meteoritical Society*.
  • The Elsevier Travel Award for early career scientists (PhD received 2014-2018) (Open to all nationalities). Applicants must be members of The Meteoritical Society*.
  • The 2019 Brian Mason Awards ($1500 USD), sponsored by Meteorite Times Magazine and the International Meteorite Collectors Association (IMCA). If selected for this award, the student must submit a ~2500-word popular article based on his/her research for publication in Meteorite Times by October, 2019, and an essay for IMCA's newsletter, Insights (Open to all nationalities). Applicants must be members of The Meteoritical Society*.
  • The Planetary Studies Foundation (2 students for $1500 each) (Open to U.S. citizen only). Applicants must also be members of The Meteoritical Society*.
  • The Meteoritical Society Travel Awards for international members with limited financial resources (low-income countries). Applicants must also be members of The Meteoritical Society*.
  • The Meteoritical Society Travel Awards for early career scientists (PhD received 2015- 2019) (Open to all nationalities). Applicants must also be members of The Meteoritical Society*.
  • The NASA Planetary Sciences Division Travel Grants (Open to qualified students enrolled in programs at U.S. institutions).
  • The National Institute for Polar Research (NIPR) and Japan Polar Research Association (JPRA) Travel Awards for graduate and undergraduate students (Open to all nationalities).
  • The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and Institute of Space and Astronautical Science (ISAS) Student Travel Awards for graduate and undergraduate students (Open to all nationalities).
